Over the past few months, I have become really interested in the prospect of treasure hunting. Almost a month ago, I decided to give it a practical touch, and buy a metal detector.

After a week of surfing the internet, I stumbled upon the Bounty Hunter Tracker IV brand. What really caught my eye was that it was described to be ‘ideal for detecting treasure in extreme ground conditions. I decided to give it a try and see if that was true.

Who is This Product For?

A metal detector, in simple terms, is a device that will give you a signal or an indication of some sort as to what kind of objects might be lurking beneath a surface.

They also have immense uses in a lot of other fields, such as for the military presence in minefields, airports and other security checkpoints. They are even used for geophysical prospectors and beachcombers.

As I said, I wanted a metal detector for the purpose of trying my hand at treasure hunting, more as a newfound passion, rather than with the hope of actually finding something valuable.

Since the weather where I live is very unpredictable, I wanted a brand that would work well in all kinds of conditions.

Now, retrospectively, I think its features (which I will discuss in the next section) make it ideal for finding buried treasure or other valuable objects underneath the ground.

What You Should Know

Before scouring the web for metal detectors, I prepared a list of the features that I thought were important. Safe to say, the Bounty Hunter Tracker 4 metal detector ticked all the boxes.

This metal detector has three different modes: motion all-metal, discrimination, and 2-tone audio mode.

The multiple discrimination types allow you to detect varied tones from a wide range of metals. This saves you the hassle of having to dig the ground only to find a useless scrap of metal. The disc/notch control will ‘distinguish between targets and unwanted metals. Here’s a little snippet about what discrimination is.

As previously mentioned, it can be utilized in any kind of ground condition, making it ideal for a wide range of hunting grounds.

Moreover, the frequency of 6.7 kHz will allow you to detect the most precious treasures that you wouldn’t be able to find with a less sensitive detector.

The weight (less than 3 pounds) means that you can carry it around for hours on end, without feeling any kind of fatigue or discomfort.

There is also a sensitivity control option, by which you can predict the depth of your next target and adjust the detector’s settings accordingly.

The metal detector also comes with a headphone jack.

After a significant discount of $35.00, I managed to buy this product for around 100 bucks, which is a steal compared to most higher-end metal detectors.

My First Impression

Before buying this product, whenever I thought of metal detectors, I always thought of those little toys you see in cartoons that crackle and beep when you come across something in the sand.

Therefore, I was naturally skeptical while going through the many different types of detectors. I kept telling myself that they all claim big and deliver little because I didn’t know any better.

I had this feeling even as I read the features of the Bounty Hunter, as we often feel that certain items are too good to be true.

However, once I saw the high ratings and favorable customer reviews, I felt the clouds of doubt lifting a bit. I decided to give it a go, and I am grateful I did.

Once the product arrived and I started using it, I realized that this one was worth every penny.

What Using it is Like

It was so lightweight and comfortable, there were times I wouldn’t even notice its weight on my shoulder. It was hard to believe the frequency it could generate until I actually put it to use for the first time.

My favorite feature was the dual discrimination types. Since I was interested in finding something useful, this feature was a big help, as it allowed me to know when the buried metal was something I wanted.

Unfortunately, I have yet to find something exciting and valuable, but on the other hand, I haven’t had to waste any time digging the ground for something invaluable.

The detector worked as well on dry days, as it did on rainy ones when the ground was slightly moist.

With regular use, I felt like I was a master at operating the product.

One thing that I learned which I initially did not know, is that it is better to use the coil if you want to explore lakes or rivers. Also, make sure that you keep the water away from your screens, or it might damage the machine.

Now, after almost a month of using the product, I cannot even imagine turning to any other brand. This brand has fulfilled my requirements to the tee.

Results

This was my first major purchase through an online outlet, and honestly, the results have been far better than what I expected them to be.

This product has helped change my perceptions, not only about metal detectors but also about online shopping as a whole. I was never big on buying things online until the Bounty Hunter Tracker IV showed up at my doorstep and now I have it listed as one of my top recommendations for beginners!

For almost a year, I had this intense craving for treasure-seeking, but I felt that I would never be able to find the right kind of equipment to satisfy that craving.

With this product, this worry appears to be a thing of the past, and I can enjoy chasing my passion to the extreme.

Final Thoughts

My rating for this product can be no less than a 5/5. I think that this product is totally worth investing in, and I would recommend it to anyone looking to buy a metal detector. It is comfortable, affordable, and really surpassed all of my expectations. I hope it can do the same for you!
