The Look, Feel, and Convenience
Fisher F75 is well-known for the convenience that it offers to its users. It is easy to carry and has a sturdy balance. Not to mention, it offers an adjustment feature and a padded grip to make it easier for you to carry it around without being a pain.
The detector’s functionality is easy to understand, so you won’t have to spend hours trying to figure out how it works. This was a huge perk for me. I prefer things to be low fuss.
The device also comes with an audio feature, however, you will have to purchase the headphones separately. You can use any headphones that have a standard ¼-inch plug.
What does it offer
Operating Frequency
It has a 13 kHz frequency, which makes it highly efficient in locating smaller objects on the ground level. However, since it does not offer a lot of depth you cannot use it for gold detection.
The device works on one frequency at a time, but you can adjust the frequency as per your requirement and avoid any unnecessary alarms from the ground.
Target Identification
This detector offers a target identification and Futon audio feature, which gives you an idea about what object is sending signals to the detector.
These are metals with their relevant identification ranges to help guide you:
- Iron substances ID has a range between 4 to 12
- Nickel articles ID have a near 30
- Aluminum pull-tab IDs have a range between 35 to 55
- Clad dime ID have a range near 70
- US quarter ID have a range near 80
- US silver Eagle ID have a range near 91
The confidence meter works as the backbone of the target identification feature, showing different confidence ratings for where you’re hunting so you can be sure you’re in the right place.
Detecting Modes
It has three operating modes to help you with your detection:
- All-Metal Motion: Lets you identify almost anything on the surface level. You can continue to rotate the coil and do not have to stop for this mode to work.
- All-Metal Static: It detects bigger particles located deeper. However, you need to keep the coil in one position for it to work.
- Discrimination Mode: It lets you set your preference for metals and conduct a search without taking everything on the radar.
Digital Display
The device has a digital screen that clearly shows the identification number of the object it detects. The design consists of three buttons; a knob for settings, a menu, and a trigger switch at the back of the screen.
The screen is well lit and has a back light to help you see in low light conditions. It might take you a few attempts to scroll between different features in a shorter time, but just keep practicing and you will perfect it in no time.
Search Coil
Fisher F75 contains an 11-inch DD search coil. It is waterproof, which lets you locate objects underwater or in rivers. It distinguishes between the target objects by looking over ground mineralization.
The coil has precision levels that send different signals to the device. If the treasure is right below the detector, the detector will send a high-pitched alert to let the user know about the distance between the treasure and the device. This allows the user to prepare and dig accordingly.
Ground balance

Automatic ground balance assists in aligning to the present ground conditions. However, the manual ground balance works better for detecting gold and works well in saltwater conditions.
The device has some fantastic features that are rare to find in detectors of this category.
Impressions
At first, the detector did not seem impressive to me. The simple design made me wonder if it offered the features I was hoping it would have. But once I had it in my hands, my impression quickly changed.
There are a lot of features that the product has to offer. It was easy to understand, and I got just what I was looking for. The comfort and precision levels allowed me to turn a daunting task into a fun activity.
Looking at something and using it are two very different experiences. When you look at something, it does not give you a deep understanding of its uses. However, once you use it, you form a completely different opinion as you’re getting a hands-on experience of what it is like to use the product.
Once you have assembled the detector, you can simply start by adjusting your grip and the armrest so that you feel comfortable carrying the device and the buttons are easily accessible to you.
Moving the knob in the clockwise direction will switch on the device, and turn the volume to the maximum. Initially, it starts in the discrimination mode and you can switch the mode according to your requirements. Once you start using the device, you will master it in no time.
One thing that you should keep in mind is that the device is not submersible. It is best if you refrain from exposing it to water, and only work in mud in worst-case scenarios.
Outcome
Metal detecting used to consume a lot of unnecessary time. The device I was using before kept directing me towards unwanted materials, as it was not able to identify the alloy and kept sending me false alarms.
Moving to Fisher F75 was a great choice. It allowed me to choose between different search modes. Now, I can plan each adventure out accordingly without any trouble and I am always prepared.

The Fisher F75 is a detector that I highly recommend. If you are looking for a device that offers you a lot of functions and does not cost an arm and a leg, I give it a solid rating of 4.5/5. If it was submersible, it would have been the best detector available in the market.
